Join us for a recap of our journey to... Germany, Austria and Switzerland, 2011
We go...
This is an expression I've heard only in Europe and I interpret it to mean "Let's go," "It's time to go," "We're leaving" or something like that. Europeans say it in a very clipped manner, combining the two words to one, "wego," and it's one of my favorite expressions because Tom and I are always ready to "go" somewhere. We go ties in well with our other favorite expression, and the impetus of our eagerness to travel, "You Only Live Once" (YOLO).
In July 2011 our "we go" trip was a Rick Steves tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (GAS). We flew from Houston to Frankfurt then rode a train down to Trier, Germany, near the Luxembourg border, arriving a day before we were to meet up with our tour guide and group. We've found that this is a good way to start an overseas group trip or cruise, arriving a day or so early so we can begin adjusting to the time change and just in case there are travel delays or luggage problems. You certainly don't want to miss any of the fun after you've spent so much time and money while planning your vacation.
We were so excited about the itinerary for this 14-day trip which, besides Trier, included sightseeing and hiking in Murren and the Lauterbrunnen Valley area of Switzerland, Baden Baden, the Black Forest, and Munich, Germany, and Salzburg, Hallstatt and Vienna, Austria.
We invite you to join us on our journey. Click on the links above and below to share the fun and adventure with us. Our goal is to give you a taste, but not too much, of the adventures we experienced, in the hope that you will be encouraged to visit these wonderful places yourself (you can't go wrong if you go with Rick Steves) and create your own wonderful memories.
